“My Everything” by Einat Nathan
“My Everything” is a parenting guidebook. Einat is well known in Israel. She is the mother of five children (which she openly talks about in her podcast) and a parenting expert.
Einat has a very calming message about how we should just relax and enjoy our kids, prioritizing the relationship over our educational agenda. Her book is written in a style that reminds me of having a conversation with a wise friend.
Another one of my favorite quotes from the book:
“I want every parent to just take a deep breath. We give so much weight to our speeches and to the words that we say. We neglect the small atoms of the family atmosphere and the way we share our imperfections with them.”
Einat promotes a soft parenting method, emphasizing the child’s need for connection before anything else. She is also normalizing the hard feeling we have in our journey of parenthood, and in a very non-judgmental way, she shares that she struggles as well as all the rest of us.
I feel that this is the kind of parent I strive to be, and I strongly suggest reading her book as a way to cultivate empathy towards your children and yourself.
